At The Edge of The Earth

「愛にできることはまだあるかい /

僕にできることはまだあるかい /

… 答えてよ」

– RADWIMPS, “Is There Still Anything That Love Can Do?”

As day turned into night,
I saw the world go down in flames –
I tried to cry
But my tears evaporated into the smoky air
And in the end,
All I could do
Was watch the world,
Burn with you.

From above, the fire came,
A brilliant orange sky –
I closed my eyes,
But the flaming clouds were burned into my mind
As they wreaked havoc on the night.

From below, the fire came,
The product of gasoline and lighter –
I held your hand,
But there was nothing I could do to comfort you
Resigned to our silent writhing pain.

As day turned into night,
I saw the world go down in flames –
I tried to cry
But my tears evaporated into the smoky air
And in the end,
All I could do
Was watch the world,
Burn with you.

From without, the fire came,
An angry raging beast –
I struggled to pacify it
But its hunger would not be satisfied
Until finally we surrendered to its cry.

From within, the fire came,
A burning human heart –
I begged for peace
But my pleas fell on deaf ears and cold hands
As hatred moved one step closer to infinity.

After all,
Darkness is not something
Unknown to man.

As day turned into night,
I saw the world go down in flames –
I tried to cry
But my tears evaporated into the smoky air
And in the end,
All I could do
Was watch the world,
Burn with you.

Dedicated to those who lost their lives in the Kyoto Animation arson attack,
And to all those affected by this tragedy.
Dreaming of a world of peace, love, and happiness
